Madagascar Wildlife Observation 11D

Duration11 Days
Difficulty 0.5 Star (Family)
Madagascar: The Island Time Forgot Located in the Southern Hemisphere, off the southeastern coast of Africa, Madagascar is the world's fourth-largest island and the largest in Africa. Separated from the mainland by the Mozambique Channel and situated near Réunion and Mauritius, the island broke away from the continent hundreds of millions of years ago. Isolated in the Indian Ocean, its flora and fauna evolved in a unique natural environment, creating a distinct wild world that has earned it the poignant nickname: "The Island Time Forgot." Madagascar is home to an astonishing array of bizarre creatures. Over 80% of its wildlife is endemic to the island. This includes 215 out of 275 mammal species, 111 out of 310 bird species, and 831 out of 1,075 amphibian and reptile species found nowhere else on Earth. With such incredible biodiversity serving as the final refuge for many endangered species, Madagascar is often hailed as the "Last Ark of Noah." Preserving primordial landscapes from eons past, the island features towering baobab trees reaching dozens of meters in height. It is the sanctuary for over 110 species of lemurs, as well as the world's largest and smallest chameleon species, among other wonders. Truly a "Treasure Trove of Natural Heritage," Madagascar offers a glimpse into a living museum of evolutionary history.
