[Morning] Stroll along the Forest Loop Trail – Enter a Cool, Wizard-of-Oz-like Wonderland

Summer in Jeju is bathed in bright sunshine, but the moment we step onto the Hallasan Forest Loop Trail, the heat is gently filtered out by the layers of tree canopies. With temperatures here about 5°C lower than in downtown Jeju City, it's a natural air conditioner gifted by nature.

Beneath your feet lie soft fallen leaves and gravel paths. Overhead, towering firs and broadleaf trees block out the sky, while sunlight dapples through the foliage, casting shifting shadows that make you feel as if you've wandered into a fairytale movie. Take a deep breath—the air is filled with the fresh scent of moss and earth. Your ears catch only the whisper of wind brushing through the treetops and the occasional call of a bird. This is Jeju Island's most healing "oxygen bar," where every step washes away the city's noise and fatigue. Whether you're a hiking beginner or a nature lover, this loop trail will make you lose track of time and simply want to keep walking.

[Afternoon] Check into Gwaneumsa Temple's Meditation Room – Settle Body and Mind Amidst Bell Chimes and Tea Aroma

After the hike, we head to Gwaneumsa Temple, nestled at the northern foot of Hallasan. There is no luxury hotel here, but there is a tranquility you cannot find in the city. As you push open the wooden door of the meditation room, the simple furnishings, the faint scent of sandalwood, and the soft light filtering through paper windows instantly slow your heartbeat.

Put down your luggage. You can sit on the veranda, gaze at the moss-covered stones and stone pagodas in the courtyard, and listen to the distant sound of the temple bell. A cup of hot tea, a small book, or simply closing your eyes in meditation—the fatigue from the hike will be gently soothed here, and your heart will rediscover a long-lost peace. At night, fall asleep accompanied by the mountain breeze and the chirping of insects, making this fusion of forest and Zen retreat the most unforgettable healing moment of your Jeju journey.

Jeju Island Gwaneumsa Temple: A Serene Ancient Temple at the Mountain Foothills Its history can be traced back to the Tamna Kingdom era (approx. 476 BCE – 1005 CE), making it an ancient temple established before the Goryeo Dynasty. Gwaneumsa Temple preserves precious cultural relics and architectural structures. The entrance begins with Iljumun (One-Pillar Gate), flanked by Maitreya Buddha stone statues and distinctive copper-colored roofs that catch the eye. Inside the temple grounds, the layout is well-organized, featuring Cheonwangmun (Gate of the Four Heavenly Kings), Daeungjeon (Main Hall), Myeongbujeon (Hall of the Underworld), Jonggakgak (Bell Pavilion), and Gwaneumgul (Gwaneum Grotto). Among these, Daeungjeon houses a wooden seated Gwaneum (Avalokitesvara) Bodhisattva statue made in the late 17th century, which was designated as Jeju Island Tangible Cultural Heritage No. 16 in 1999, holding great historical and artistic value. 3. D3: Seogwipo - Adventure along the South Coast: Hiking and Exploring

Event Theme: Guardians of the Forest - Essence of the Olle Trail Hike

Today, we embark on one of Jeju Island's most iconic hiking routes, exploring the island's wonders on foot. Jeju Island, often referred to as the "Hawaii of the East," is renowned for its natural beauty, but it also holds the unique ecological landscape of **Gotjawal**, which stems from volcanic eruptions millions of years ago.

Here, you'll witness the fascinating coexistence of tropical and temperate plants. As you walk along the forest trails, you'll feel the power of life and the force of nature all around you. Along the way, you might encounter the wild inhabitants of the forest—just maintain a respectful distance and quietly observe them, allowing for the most authentic hiking experience with nature.

After lunch, we will proceed to another hiking trail rich in history and cultural significance, a place where the intersection of Korean and Chinese cultures has left a lasting mark. You will experience the profound contrast between "darkness" and "light." As we stroll along the ridge of Songaksan Mountain, the unique geological formations of black volcanic rocks unfold before us. Walking along these rugged volcanic paths, with the sea breeze gently blowing, the magnificent coastline before us and the mountains behind, the vast beauty of both land and sea will deeply move our hearts.

In the evening, we will settle at Gwaneumsa Temple, one of the most important Buddhist temples on Jeju Island. Gwaneumsa not only carries rich religious and cultural history but also offers an opportunity to learn about Jeju Island's Buddhist and meditation traditions. Here, in the peaceful temple life, you can listen to the teachings of Buddhist culture and find inner tranquility and harmony.
