Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park is situated within one of the world’s 36 global biodiversity hotspots and is home to China's largest and most species-rich tropical rainforest, which serves as the cornerstone of the island's ecosystem. Hainan is often referred to as China's "Amazon," harboring approximately 20% of the country's amphibians, 33% of reptiles, 38.6% of birds, and 20% of mammals. Additionally, mountain ranges like Wuzhi Mountain, Bawang Hills, and Jianfeng Hills traverse Hainan Island, forming its backbone and providing protection and breeding grounds for rare animals such as the Hainan black-crested gibbon (Nomascus hainanus), Hainan Eld's deer (Cervus eldii), and Hainan peacock-pheasant (Polyplectron katsumatae).

  1. D1: Arrive in Sanya - Wuzhi Mountain

    Morning】: Head to the Wuzhi Mountain area of Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park.

    Noon】: Hike with our insect expert to learn about rainforest ecology; observe amphibians and insects.  

    【Night】: Night observation in the rainforest, searching for nocturnal frogs and insects with our insect expert.  

    Transport : car (3-3.5 hours)

    Accommodation : Yantai Holiday Hotel (or similar)

    Meal : Breakfast; Lunch (Simple Meal)

    The hotel is located in the core area of Wuzhi Mountain, surrounded by dense tropical rainforest, and the surrounding air is fresh and natural. The hotel’s Southeast Asian architectural style complements the mountainous areas of Wuzhi Mountain.

  2. D2: Wuzhi Mountain - Danzhou - Sanya; Departure or Extension Program

    All day】: Explore the mangroves and look for traces of the black-faced spoonbill (Platalea minor); wade through mudflats to search for creatures such as fiddler crabs (Uca) and Chinese horseshoe crabs (Tachypleus tridentatus).  

    【Note】: The sequence of activities may be adjusted based on the changes in tide. 

    Transport : car (2-2.5 hours)

    Meal : Breakfast; Lunch (Feature Lunch)
